Online Counselling and Support for Relationship Issues

Unhappy in your relationship – or struggling to find one?

Everything else in your life might be going well. But when it comes to love and relationships, things aren’t working out the way you’d hoped, and you’ve been going over the same thoughts again and again without reaching any resolution, not quite knowing who to talk to.

Relationship difficulties don’t always look the way you’d expect. Sometimes it’s not a blazing row or a dramatic falling out – it’s lying awake wondering whether what you have is enough, or whether you’re expecting too much. It’s the question you keep coming back to but can’t quite answer. It’s the feeling that everyone else seems to have figured something out that you haven’t. That kind of uncertainty can be exhausting to carry, especially when you can’t easily talk about it with the people around you.

Does either of these sound familiar?

You’re questioning your relationship. Maybe it’s a persistent nagging feeling you can’t quite name, or maybe something has happened that’s brought everything into question. You go round and round, weighing up the hurt it would cause, the years you’ve invested, what life might look like on the other side. and yet you still come back to the same place every time: “I don’t know what to do for the best.”

Or maybe you feel like love is something that happens for everyone else, and you’re starting to wonder why it feels so much harder for you. Maybe you’ve been hurt before. Maybe you keep ending up in the same situation with different people. Maybe you’re not even sure you’re worthy of love from someone else. Whatever it looks like on the outside, there’s usually a question underneath it: “Is there something wrong with me?”

If you can relate to either or these, then you’re in the right place.

Who I work with

I work one-to-one with UK-based individuals, aged 18 and over (I am unable to offer couples counselling but can recommend suitable therapists if that’s what you’re looking for).

Everyone is welcome, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, culture or background. Whatever your story, you’ll find a warm, non-judgemental space here.

What therapy can do

I won’t tell you what to do, but I will help you to get out of that loop and understand what’s actually going on beneath the surface, helping you to figure out not just what you should want, but what you actually want.

People I’ve worked with often describe the shift like this: “You’ve helped me make sense of everything that was going around in my head so I can now make more confident decisions”, “I feel so much more secure in relationships now that I understand what was making me so anxious before”, “I now realise I don’t need a relationship to make me happy. It would just be the icing on the cake.”

You don’t need to arrive with a clear explanation of what’s wrong (we can discover that together as we go) – we just start wherever you are, and work from there. Over time we might explore what’s sitting underneath the uncertainty, where some of your patterns and beliefs about relationships come from, and what’s been quietly getting in the way of you feeling settled and confident in yourself.

And because I work privately, there is no lengthy waiting list, and your first session is likely to take place within a few days of getting in touch.

My approach

I’m person-centred, which means there’s no fixed agenda, no homework, and no sense that there’s a “right” answer we’re working towards. I believe that everyone is unique and has their own perspective on life, based on their thoughts, feelings and beliefs, gained through their previous experiences. It’s not a case of one-size-fits-all (after all, only you know exactly how you feel or what you’ve been through), so I won’t give you advice or tell you what to do to make you feel better. Instead, through building a relationship of trust and respect between us, we can work together towards finding the best way forward for you. A truly bespoke service, tailored specifically to you.

What sessions are like

Sessions are 50 minutes and are online via video (Zoom), so you can access all the benefits of counselling from the comfort of your own home, whilst eliminating the cost, time, stress and inconvenience of travelling to and from appointments.
